Traveling With Children In Poland

Poland is a child friendly country. You will find that the Polish people will go out of their way to help you when they see that you are traveling with children.

The Polish culuture is a family oriented culture. People spend a lot of time with their children. And children take a special place in society.

On busses, trams, and trains there are specially designated places for mothers with children. And those designations are generally respected. There are, of course, some who do not respect them. But you will find that people around you will step in and either provide a place if they cannot embarrass the offender.

And if all the designated places are taken, generally someone will make a place for you.

Restaurants are likewise family oriented. In many there are childrens portions and some provision for childrens seats. The service personnel will often go out of their way to engage the children and keep them both happy and occupied.

Like any country in the world, there are those who prey on tourists. And tourists pre-occupied with trying to control children are good prey. So you will have to keep your tourists eye constantly alert.

The train stations are always a place for extra caution. But once on the trains you will be with a protective group of fellow travelers who appreciate children.

Bus 175 in Warsaw (from the airport to the Warsaw Centrum) is a trap for you. Read about it here. Bus 175. Avoid it and take a cab.

Walking the streets of Poland is generally safe. Once again when you get into a tourist area, there are always those who are looking for easy marks. And the easiest are those who do not have their children under control. There is more information on walking the streets of Poland at How Safe Is Poland.
