How To Have A Successful Business Trip In Poland
Doing business and traveling in Poland will be a very different experience for you.
When I tell this to someone before he has come to Poland, I am usually passed off as having made an obvious comment because every country is unique. But for some who I talk to after they have been here, they say they wished that they had my advice beforehand. Please be sure to read this carefully.
How Is Poland Unique?
Not every country has been undergoing a very long process of change from an absurd political and economic system to a free market system.
Not every country has an industrial base that is still populated by many people who operate the old way.
Not every country has companies that are still, after many years, learning the rules of market economics and service.
And not every country has travel and industrial infrastructures based on a communist system that did not understand the rules of business.
In general, doing business in any of the Central and Eastern European countries is doing business in a different world in transition.
If you do not prepare, it will cost you time and money. And it can be a lot of time and money!
How I Can Help You Prepare.
I can screen factories for you. - Don't waste time visiting companies that don't meet your requirements.
I can get catalogs. - Many times it takes someone speaking Polish making several phone calls to get a catalog. I will have that done for you.
I can get preliminary offers. - Why waste time with factories that don't meet your price requirements. Tell me what you need. I will get some preliminary pricing.
I can arrange proper transportation. - Travel in Poland is VERY different. The roads are bad. The drivers undisciplined. The railroads difficult to navigate. And language can be a big problem.
I can make appointments with the right people. - Too often people come here and end up meeting with the wrong person. I will put you in front of the right person in the right office, in the right city.
I can have factory representatives come to you. - Many times I can persuade the factory representatives to come to your hotel with samples. It is a great way to save time.
I can arrange for translators and guides for you. - If you don't speak Polish, you are going to need one sometime for something.
