Tour Itinerary
DAY I - ACTIVITIES Stay in Warsaw Suggested: a sightseeing tour (drive-around and walking) with the guide. This will be a tour around the most magnificent Warsaw sites, to present the city's (and in a way the country's) complex history - old and new. You will see the Old Town, which flourished around the Royal Castle once Warsaw was established as Poland's capital city in the late Middle Ages, will take a stroll and a ride along the so called Royal Route, hear the sad stories of heroism at the sites of most severe fights of the Warsaw Uprising of 1944 and see the prime buildings of the post-war communist governments (now having been turned into icons of the modern economy). Should the weather be nice (i.e. clear air with god visibility) it is recommended to start the tour with a visit to 40th floor of The Palace of Culture and Science (Stalin's "gift" to the Polish nation, dominating the entire city centre), where you will get a magnificent overview of Warsaw
DAY II - ACTIVITIES Departure for Cracow (train, time to be confirmed)Checking into a hotel .Suggested sightseeing (a tour of the city): A visit to Wawel Royal Castle (including visiting some of the historic royal chambers) - ca. 90 min.- dinner at a local restaurant (traditional folk style) to try out some of the finest traditional Polish folk cuisine- a walk in Cracow's Old Town - the medieval market square (Europe's largest medieval square) and adjoining historic streets, a glimpse at the Jagiellonian University (one of Europe's oldest) followed by a visit to the Kazimierz district - the traditional Jewish quarter (occupied by the Jews already from 14/15 centuries until 1939) - ca. 2-3 hrs
DAY III - ACTIVITIES Transfer to the Gorce mountain range (Gorczanski National Park) for snow-shoeing activity Equipment (snow shoes) rental Checking into a local bed and breakfast (location: Rabka, Poreba,Koninki, Obidowa*)equipment trail - a short snow-shoeing outing (ca. 2-3 hours) in the Bed and Breakfast's vicinity (the lower part of the range) to grasp the walking techniques and acclimate*location to be selected shortly prior to the trip, based on the best snow conditions for snow-shoeing activity
DAY IV - ACTIVITIES Snow-shoeing trip to the Turbacz peak (the highest peak of the range - 1310 m a.s.l.) along one of the wild, snow-covered and unfrequented trails (ca. 8 hours). A night in the mountain hostel located at the mountain top.
DAY V - ACTIVITIES Snow-shoeing trip from the Turbacz hostel down to the previous or nearby location along a different trail (up to 7 hours); late afternoon transfer to Beskid Niski mountain range - the Magura National Park area for cross-country skiing (arriving early evening - a ca. 1.5 hr drive); a night at a local BandB/hostel
DAY VI - ACTIVITIES Cross-country skiing trip (ca. 8 hours), a night at a mountain hostel
DAY VII - ACTIVITIES Cross-country skiing trip from the hostel to the transfer point (up to 4 hours); transfer to Cracow airport (departing at around noon, arriving at ca. 2 pm).
