TOUR ITINERARY PROPOSAL

DAY I - Getting out from Warsaw early in the morning, heading south for Czestochowa and continuing on "The Eagle's Nest Trail"Czestochowa - the Polish Catholics' jewel in the crown - the medieval church and monastery of Jasna Góra, famous for, if nothing else, its miraculous resistance to the Swedish invasion in the 17th century. The visit to the monastery will be followed by a stroll around the historic market square and the surrounding houses in the Old Town. Just outside Czestochowa the historic castle trail begins with the castle of OlsztynOlsztyn - the castle, although now in ruins, still telling its history, dates back to the 12th century. It was a royal castle in its prime years, a warrant of the royal rule over the territory .A night in a local bed and breakfast in the vicinity.

DAY II It only takes ca. 2 hours to drive from Czestochowa to Cracow, if taking a direct route. Yet following the castle trail, along the local winding road will take a whole day to see the best of the historic sites. Below are the ones definitely worth stopping by to wander around and take a closer look and Bobolice - two 14th c. knight's and royal castles; owned, as the legend has it, by two brothers. Ogrodzieniec - a legendary outlaw hideaway in the 13th c., became a possession of wealthy Cracovian townsmen from the 14th c. on. Rabsztyn - a wooden keep belonging to the local gentry in the 13th c., became a royal castle in the 14th c.Pieskowa Skala - one of the most picturesque locations, on a high rock towering the area, founded in the 14th c., its present form and shape has been preserved from the 17th c. A night in a local bed and breakfast.

DAY III Pieskowa Skala is already in the vicinity of Cracow and within the Ojcowski National Park. It is worth spending at least half a day in the National Park, which was established to protect the Pradnik valley. Its limestone rocks, dotted with caves present unforgettable views .Arriving in Cracow it is absolutely a must to see Wieliczka - once a separate town, now practically Cracow's suburb. The underground tour of the salt mines (a world-famous site) will make a lasting impression .Arriving in Cracow in the early evening; a night at a ** hotel or a bed and breakfast.

DAY IV Staying for the whole day in Cracow is hardly enough to see the most glamorous sites. The city with over a 1000-year history, the seat of the Polish kings for more than five centuries, it still exudes an air of glamour and dignity as you walk along its medieval walls. It is best to visit the historic Old Town by following the traditional route which was always taken by legates to the king. Starting off from Florianska Str. and passing through the Florian Gate you will find yourself within the Old Town's walls. A visit to the Czartoryski Museum and its collection of art and armour will give you a good insight into the old Cracow way of living. Back to Florianska Street you will get to the medieval market square (Europe's largest) where you can listen to the bugle call being played at noon; each house around the square has a different history to tell; the medieval trading house occupying the centre of the square now houses souvenir stalls as well as a collection of the 19th century Polish art (visiting included).Leaving the market square through Grodzka Street will take you to the castle hill. Wawel, as it is called, witnessed nearly all of the royal coronations and burial in the Polish history. A visit to the royal chambers, the treasury or the castle chapel simply cannot be missed (visiting included). On your way back to the Old Town it is also worth having a look at the Jagiellonian University (one of Europe's oldest). While visiting Cracow it is a must to spend a few hours in Kazimierz district - the traditional Jewish quarter (occupied by the Jews already from 14/15th centuries until 1939); a visit to its Little Market, the Old Synagoge and the historic streets and houses will make a lasting impression Close of tour - arriving in Warsaw in the evening (around 9 PM).
