ITINERARY
Introduction Poland's northern and north-eastern territories - the Pomeranian Lakeland and the Mazury/Suwalki Lakeland are among the wildest areas in the country and definitely the ones of the most pristine beauty. The landscape is varied - hilly, overgrown with thick forests and literally spotted with lakes - hence the phrase "the land of a thousand lakes" is frequently used to describe it. We recommend the finest canoeing routes:- The Pomeranian Lakeland: the Drawa, the Gwda, the Brda and the Wda run across the region north to south. They are wild, sometimes rapid and mountain-like, sometimes meandering their ways through the woods and chains of lakes. - The Mazury/Suwalki Lakeland: the Rospuda River is definitely the wildest and still quite undiscovered by canoers, making it the best choice for everyone willing to see purely unspoiled nature on its own.
ARRIVAL DESTINATION (recommended) Gdansk - operated by all major airlines, ca. 3-hour drive from the canoeing location in Mazury/Suwalki Lakeland or the Pomeranian Lake and Warsaw - operated by all major airlines, ca. 3-hour drive from the canoeing location in Mazury/Suwalki LakelandBydgoszcz - operated by Ryanair, ca. 2-3-hour drive from the canoeing location in the Pomeranian Lakeland
FIRST DAY Transfer from the airport, accommodation in a local bed and breakfast
DAYS II - onwards(minimum of 3-4 canoeing days are recommended on any single river) - canoeing on one of the recommended rivers of participants' choice, a stretch of 10-15* miles to be covered daily* daily distance will depend on participants canoeing skills, fitness, exact canoeing route to be covered, as selected by participants upon booking our special event:- winter canoeing trips on the Brda River to admire the beauty of snow-covered and frozen primeval forests; a stretch of ca. 6-7 miles will be covered daily, a stay of 5 days (including arrival and departure days) is recommended
LAST DAY Transfer to the airport for departure.
Optionally, depending on the arrival location, the itinerary can be extended to include a sightseeing stay in Warsaw or sightseeing stay in Gdansk or sightseeing stay in Torun (if flying to/from Bydgoszcz).
