Sauerkraut and Mushroom Pierogi Filling

This sauerkraut and mushroom pierogi filling is one of the more popular fillings. It is also used in Uszka that are the small pierogi added to borsch and served at the Christmas Eve meal.

It is a simple filling to make. You need: 2 cups of sauerkraut, 1 cup of mushrooms, 1 onion chopped . butter, salt, pepper

Cook the sauerkraut for at least 10 minutes. Drain it and chop well.

Fry the onion and chopped mushrooms in butter, add sauerkraut and fry until flavors are blended.

Cool and fill pierogi dough circles.
