Ministers Of The Tusk Government Of Poland November, 2007
This is a list of the Ministers of the Polish Government under Prime Minister Donald Tusk as of 21 November, 2007. The Prime Minister has said that he will continuously evaluate his ministers and every six months replace one or two who he thinks are the lowest achievers. By doing that he hopes to keep the ministers attentive to their jobs.
The Polish Government at this time is a coalition of the Prime Minister's Party, Civic Platform, and Deputy Prime Minister Pawlak's party, PSL. The combination of the two parties gives them enough to control the Polish Parliament, or as it is known in Poland the Sejm, but it does not give them enough to override Presidential vetoes.
In order for the Prime Minister to gather enough votes to override a veto, he is going to have to depend on the support of the opposition party SLD. Information about that was published in our news service that you can find at New Polish Government Must Rely On Poland's Post Communists.
The prospects for cooperation by the SLD are rather low since the Civic Platform and Tusk have worked against them for years. They are not well suited to each other.
Tusk has proposed a very aggressive reform campaign but he is not going to be able to move it forward unless he does a lot of horse trading. It might come to pass, however, that the Law And Justice Party may have internal dissension that will cause it to split and throw some support to Tusk.
