There are some excellent restaurants that most people miss because they are just off the typical tourist path. Generally they are on the street ul Chmielna. This street has car traffic restrictions so it is a pleasant walk.
On Chmielna you get many shopping opportunities as well as the choice of many restaurants.
It is best that you start your stroll down Chmielna at the ul. Marszalkowska end of Chmielna and walked towards Nowy Swiat. Look at the map above for these reference points.
You will notice that Chmielna starts behind the Galleria Centrum building - you can't miss it when you see it. There is an archway under the building through which you go to get to Chmielna. You can also get to Chmielna by going along side of the Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant - you can't miss this either - and taking the first right turn past the KFC.
You will find some coffee shops, tea shops and excellent restaurants. You'll also find one of the best places to get a hand made Polish amber, silver, crystal and other Polish handcrafts. The prices are excellent, the products unique, and the service unsurpassed in Warsaw. It is located at Chmielna number 26 and is called the 3 Cats. As you pass the 3 Cats and proceed along Chmielna, you will get to a crossing street named Zgoda Bracka If you take a left on the street and go short distance, perhaps 100 meters, you will see a simple restaurant on the left-hand side we you can get excellent Polish food at an excellent price. Also, directly across the street you will see another restaurant that is excellent and a favorite of locals.
When you get to the and Chmielna the you will reach a street called Nowy Swiat. This is one of the main shopping streets for tourists in Warsaw. Take a left and head towards the Old Town. You will find more shops, restaurants and coffee shops. The prices on Nowy Swiat will be higher generally than the prices that you find on Chmielna.
If you continue down Nowy Swiat you will get to Krakowsi Przedmiesje which will lead you to the Warsaw Poland Old Town - the main Warsaw tourist destination. There are many restaurants and shops in the Old Town. And since it is the main tourist destination for Warsaw you will pay tourist prices.
