The No Diet Diet
There is no reason to diet to lose weight. No diet is the best way to lose weight. It is easy to lose weight with the no diet diet. And with the no diet diet, when you lose weight, you will find that your weight loss is not one of those temporary weight losses that you experience when you go on some diet diet that offers all sorts of promises.
The no diet diet approach asks you to do two things. First you just establish how much you should eat each day to stop your weight gain. And you eat what you want, but not more than the amount that makes you start gaining weight.
Once you stop gaining weight, then you determine how much you want to lose per month by walking, using an exercise machine or doing other exercise.
Bare with me as I go through an example to make this no diet diet make some sense.
Most of us have a weight problem because we are gaining weight. If we gain just 1/10 of a pound a week, at the end of the year we will have gained 5 pounds. And in three years that will be 15 pounds. And in ten years that will be 50 pounds.
And that is just 1/10 of a pound per week.
We just have to turn that around. We want to lose between nothing and 1/10 of a pound a week by deciding how much we can eat and lose no more that 1/10 of a pound a week by eating whatever we want whenever we want as long as it is within our guideline.
Remember on this no diet diet we do not want to lose more than 1/10 of a pound per week. We do not want to diet. We just want to stop gaining weight. We want no diet. We want no weight gain.
Do this for a month to be sure that you have your eating controlled so that you do not gain weight. Now that you know how much you can eat, decide on how much you want to lose by doing a little exercise. Suppose you decide that you want to lose 1 pound per month by exercising. All that you have to do is walk 30 minutes per day. If you use an elliptical machine, 20 minutes on it will lose you about 2 pounds per month.
Does it sound like much? If you were to gain 1 pound per month, in one year you would gain 12 pounds. That is a lot. And it is a lot to lose, especially since you are not even dieting and with no diet you are eating what you want.
If you lose 2 pounds per month, with a no diet diet or without a no diet diet, you will lose 24 pounds in a year.
The No Diet Diet Process
Establish how much you can eat to not gain weight in one of two ways.
Estimate your daily calorie requirements and count your daily calories to maintain your weight. (Practically speaking this is a pain in the neck, boring and you will probably give up.)
Get a balance log and let your computer do the calculating for you.
Decide to lose 1 or 2 pounds per month. (You are free, of course, to choose more, but you will have to exercise a lot more and you are likely to quit.)
Exercise as necessary. Because you probably "don't have time to exercise", consider an elliptical machine or a treadmill. (Get information about elliptical machines here and treadmills here.)
