Today in the center of Warsaw, Poland, Polish police came upon a car driven by a man wearing heavy gloves. Because wearing heavy gloves in hot weather was somewhat suspicious, they pulled the car over and arrested a wanted gangster.

But Polish workers are leaving Poland to work at higher wages in other European Union countries. Poor Polish Road management in Warsaw, Poland routinely causes a shutdown of a major commuter artery into the center of Warsaw and ties up traffic into the city of for hours on end. The road, Al. Zyta Gilowska, who was relieved of position as Poland's Deputy Prime Minister and Financial Minister because of accusations of having worked with the Polish secret services and having lied on her vetting statement, after having been adjudicated innocent, has agreed to raise to reassume her posts. Zyta Gilowska comes back to her position as Poland's Financial Minister just before the deadline that was set by the Prime Minister for approval of Poland's budget.

Poland's former Minister of Finance, Zyta Gilowska, was acquitted of the formal charges of lying on her vetting statement and at the same time was accused by the trial judge of cooperating with the Polish secret police. The judge found that there was no clear evidence to say that there was cooperation but expressed her personal opinion that Zyta Gilowska had voluntarily given information to the Polish secret services. It was good for Gilowska to be acquitted but was it all a disgrace or political farce?

During the first seven months of 2006 there was a 13% drop in the number of fatalities and the recent introduction of unmarked cars is projected to increase the rate of decline.

The Leader of the Polish radical left farmers party has taken a firm stand on some issues and if he loses on the stance is not likely that he will be able to maintain his credibility with his support base.
