Wholesale drop shipping means that you will be selling products or services to shops, web site owners, retailers and other businesses that sell to the consumer.

Wholesaling can be done on the internet. But the most effective way to do it is to take some samples of your product and show the samples to your prospective customers. Showing samples is close, personal and creates trust. Of course that is not always possible, so if you can't make a visit, do the next best thing and use the phone.
Using the internet is cold and impersonal. What is worse, people are so used to internet fraud that you immediately start from a position of guilty until proven innocent. So use the internet to stimulate interest, then use the phone, or if possible, make a visit.
Your customers are everywhere. Of course there are many large retailers and chains. But the bigger market is the vast collection of small shops and businesses that are always looking for the unique and a reliable source of supply.
- You can find their shops on the web. Use the google search engine and search key words for your products. Go to the contact page for each business and call the people. Or send them a postcard. Or visit them.
- Display your products at shows and fairs.
- Build a mailing list and send them a periodic email or post card reminder.
- Write down all their needs, concerns, wants, and desires. You may not be able to supply them now, but maybe you can help them and establish a business relationship that will result in sales later.
What should you wholesale?
If you are targeting the small and medium sized business, pick something that will get your first order. Then see what else you can sell.

How much money can you make? A lot more than you think! It is really up to you and how much time and effort you want to put into it. There are some people who are very happy with the money that they make selling Polish pottery. They order it by the 40 foot container and can't get enough.
What is our experience with our advice? I will relate to you one recent example of how a business relationship initiated on the internet develops.
A lady from Atlanta, Georgia asked about wholesaling the oil lamps at Oil Lamp Art. We talked on the phone between Warsaw, Poland and Atlanta. She asked all, and more than, the typical questions of a new buyer who is on the defensive.
We convinced her to buy some samples of the lamps. She sent us money and went into a state of panic when we did not respond the same day that we received the money. (We were out of the office.) She called every day about the status of her order. She was worried.
She received her order. She called us all excited. She said that the lamps were "absolutely beautiful". She had shown them to a couple people and could have sold all her samples on the spot. And she immediately reordered for stock.
She will be selling, among other ways, at trade shows and local fairs.
This example is typical. We go through similar scenarios every day. And you will too. And if you can establish that relationship of trust, you will too.
What are your first steps?
First pick a product line that interests you.
Decide on to whom you would like to sell.
- Would you like to tell others about retail drop shipping and get a percentage of anything that they buy?
- Would you like to offer drop shipping supplies to eBay sellers? (This is one of the best markets that you can target. Some of the people sell 100 and more items per day on eBay. You only need a couple clients like that to make good money.)
- Would you like to wholesale a particular product to small shops?
- Would you like to sell at fairs?

Once you make you decision, it is best to get a few samples so that you are comfortable with the products and you can talk from personal experience. But that is not necessary.
What is important is to either make a decision or start planning and to ask the questions that come up while you plan.
