Rondo Radoslawa, in Zoliborz, Poland, where driving has made carnival bumper cars look tame, is being refurbished and the traffic pattern changed in an attempt to reduce the number of accidents that result because of confusion and rodeo like driving of Polish drivers.

The rondo had three lanes from which one could turn right to exit the rondo. Traffic from the innermost left lane, as well as the center lane, could turn right at any time and cross in front of traffic continuing around the rondo.

Dangerous even to cautious drivers, it became more dangerous as aggressive Polish drivers, who have a habit of coming from behind on the left and cutting across traffic to exit right, took took more chances than wise only to find themselves hit on the right side.

Now physical traffic flow limiters and traffic strips that require the inner lane to stay in lane and the right lane to exit the rondo should reduce the accident rate.

The big question that remains is how long will it take for drivers to get used to the new traffic pattern. And will they follow the new rules if they get into the wrong lane.

Here is a video of the work in progress.
