Play Polish Police Badge Gets Sex For Silence

Warsaw, Poland 7 February, 2010 - A Polish man used a toy police officer’s badge to frighten prostitutes into sex in Poland. Flashing a shiny silver badge with the word “police” a 33-year-old man from Gostynin in the Mazowieckie province conned prostitutes into providing their service for free.

“Do you provide an escort service? We have information of a HIV infection. You’re going to have serious trouble. Unless we can come to some sort of agreement.”

Plock police said he used such lines to manipulate at least a dozen women over the past months.

If they were resistant he blackmailed them with threats of revealing her identity and bringing her shame.

“Of course, the badge was a fake, you can buy one in every toy store,” police said.

“Below the visible inscription “Police” is another, “Play”.”

But the intimidated women all agreed to the exchange, his silence for her services.

For some months the Gostynin resident had picked women out of the classifieds section of the newspaper. Most women came from P³ock, where he worked, and he selected those who worked from home.

But after a while one of the victims called the real police who tracked down the man and his badge.

Police have already spoken to 8 victims and expect more will come forward.

If investigations confirm police suspicions the Gostynin man will face charges of posing as a police officer and coercion into sexual intercourse by deception, for which he may be imprisoned for up to 10 years.
