Crime In Poland - A Mugging For Shoes Turns Into Murder
Warsaw, Poland 21 January 2010 - Wanting a young man's 200 PLN shoes, a mugging by three Polish brothers turned into murder.
After a mugging gone wrong two Polish brothers, aged 29 and 17, were charged with the murder of 21-year-old Marek this week. Their younger brother is accused of assault.
The crime took place nearly a year ago. The brothers hit Mark with a rock and then knelt on his neck, asphyxiating the dying man.
They then took Mark’s 200 PLN shoes and dumped his body in a ditch on the outskirts of their town, Grodkowa, some 50km south east of Wroclaw.
All three brothers will be tried simultaneously.
The older of the brothers was on good behavior bond during the time of the murder. He was doing time for assault and robbery and now faces life imprisonment.
The middle brother also doesn’t have a clean record and may be punished with up to 25 years. Both pled guilty.
The youngest brother is charged with assault and because he is under age all three will be tried in closed court sessions.
Before going standing before the judge earlier this week one of the brother’s fainted in the courthouse.
