Drunk Polish Hospital Staff Stash Bodies Overnight
Warsaw, Poland 21 January 2010 - Too drunk to carry bodies out of a hospital ward in Poland, two Polish hospital workers stashed them in a storeroom for the morning shift.
This was caught on tape, twice, at the Legnica Public Utilities Enterprise. Men responsible for the night transport of the deceased from the Provincial hospital turned up for work, drunk.
A camera recorded the men at work lugging bodies from a hospital ward. They are seen taking bodies off trolleys and unable to carry them out of the building and into their van, even stumbling and loosing balance in attempts to hoist the body.
Look at the tape here.
So the men simply left the bodies together with the trolley in a hospital storage room and the corpse didn’t get to the dissecting room until the morning shift came to finish the job.
Night watchmen on duty said they had no doubt about the intoxication of the men. “It was obvious to see that the man was drunk,” security guard Jan Dudek said.
The Legnica Public Utilities Enterprise chairman Józef Wasinkiewicz admits that what was seen on the recording was very bad.
“Incorrect execution of procedures and you can even pick up on the picture that the workers were under the influence of alcohol” Mr Wasinkiewicz said.
He doesn’t want to get the Public Prosecutors involved, though. He said the employees will be disciplined, but he didn’t say how.
But whatever disciplinary action was taken after the first incident, it wasn’t enough. The night shift returned the very next night and recorded a second take of camera footage showing them intoxicated and breaking procedure again.
It is known the men were dismissed. One of them has, however, reapplied for his position and it isn’t ruled out that he will be taken back, said Mr Wasinkiewicz.
