Polish Weather: People Run For Bread As Snow Cuts Power in Szczecin, Poland
Warsaw, Poland - 9 April, 2008 Heavy snow in Szczecin, Poland caused power outages in and as far as 100 kilometers from the City. Polish people descended on bakeries and shops buying as many as five loaves of bread at a time.
The heavy snow snapped trees, poles and power lines all over the region.

The snow storm effectively shut the region down. And the people responded by stocking up on food. Bread was a popular item.
Mobil phones, radio, television and the internet were cut off leaving the public without a way of getting information.
Fire Departments and the Polish Army worked to restore things to normal.
Power was restored to about 80% of the city by 2000 yesterday evening. The outlying regions are expected to have power completely restored later today.
