Polish emigrants to the United Kingdom return to Poland in larger numbers
Classified Polnews
Warsaw, Poland - 17 April, 2008 Polish emigrants to the United Kingdom are returning to Poland at about twice the rate that they did last year. Emigration to the United Kingdom has not stopped, but more who have spent their time there are opting to come home to Poland.
The Polish economy is booming. Wages are going up. Foreign direct investment is expected to reach record levels. Unemployment is down and there are more job opportunities. The fighting and squabbling among Polish politicians that dominated the Polish news has all but disappeared. Life in Poland has changed from what it was even a year ago.
With all these changes polls are opting to come home. They recognize that they can now work in their own home country and get better pay than they could have when they left. And they see more opportunities for them to find employment.
Some have cited the high cost of living in the United Kingdom and feel that even though their wages will be lower in Poland a lower cost of living will offset the pay cut. And they will be among their friends and family.
They return to a country where real estate prices are soaring with apartments in the center of Warsaw selling for millions of dollars and a strong zloty that is affecting exports and employment. But there are many job opportunities as the country continues upgrading its infrastructure in order to support the euro 2012 championships and foreign investors continued to demand qualified labor.
Emigration to the United Kingdom has not yet stopped. It is just that more people are returning that had been.
