Polish Bureaucrat Wants To Raise The Age For Sex.

Warsaw, Poland - 25 March, 2008   The Polish Spokesman for Children's Law has proposed raising the age for allowing sex in Poland and brought upon herself derision and laughter.

Currently sex is allowable in Poland at the age of 15. Marriage is allowable at the age of 16.

She has proposed that children's bodies be protected from the moment of conception until the age 18. And that means no sex.

To her apparent surprise, it was been pointed out to her that should the law be changed as she wishes, 16-year-olds could get married but they would have to wait two years to be able to have sex. And for those already married and not yet 18, it would be like trying to put the genie back in the bottle.

Neither the Polish Government nor members of the Polish parliament are interested in supporting her.

They point out that in some other countries in Europe sex is allowable at age 14. The ages for allowable sex in those countries depend on physiological, psychological, and cultural factors in each of the particular countries.

As an alternative to her change in the law it has been proposed that increased emphasis being placed on educating young people about sex.

That is not necessarily needed. In some countries in Europe, young people experience sex the first time under the supervision of their parents. See Sex In Europe
