Poland's Exiting Government Attacks Ex Polish Minister Of Defense

Warsaw, Poland 24 November, 2007 Radek Sikorski, an Ex Minister of Defense under the exiting Kaczynski Government, after being announced as the candidate for Foreign Minister under the possibly incoming Government has come under an intense verbal attack by Kaczynski associates.
Sikorski it is said was removed from his position as Minister of Defense for some unstated unprofessional conduct that is claimed by Kaczynski's party must be kept private because it is a State Secret.
But at the time he resigned, under pressure, the Polish newspaper Gazeta Wyborcza reported that President Kaczynski had been pushing for his dismissal because he spoke badly of the Kaczynski twins at meetings and because of his conflict with Kaczynski favorite Macierewicz Poland's Minister Of Defense Sikorski Resigns
Jaroslaw Kaczynski said this week that Sikorski acted unprofessionally in 2005 Sikorski because he entered into unauthorized negotiations and told then Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld that Poland should, as part of the deal for placing a missile base in Poland, get one billion dollars to upgrade its military.
Kazimierz Marcinkiewicz, who was Prime Minister at that time came, to Sikorski's defense and said that Sikorski had cleared that with him prior to his meeting with Rumsfeld.
Sikorski responded that Kaczynski just wanted to give the US the area for the missile base with little in return.
The President said that Sikorski is not a good candidate and repeated the strain that Sikorski is unprofessional.
When Sikorski resigned he was replaced by a political insider Aleksander Szczyglo . Zbigniew Brzezinski criticised the replacement and said that the Government lost its, "only internationally respected politician it has. On Saturday, Minister of Defense, Szczyglo called Sikorski a traitor.
For his part, Sikorski said that the Law And Justice people were a wild bunch that should be shut down.
Sikorski is a free thinker and very popular. So popular that one of the Polish newspapers ran a poll to see how he would fare in a presidential election.
