It has been rumored for months that they would be filing bankruptcy in order to find an investor.

Zawiercie is the only crystal company in Poland that can machine produce crystal glasses. They are the supplier of machine made blanks to smaller crystal companies around Poland who etch and cut designs into these blanks.

Some foreign companies that had been negotiating for large orders of machine made crystal glasses were surprised some time back when they were suddenly told that orders required full cash payment in advance. This change in payment terms raised red flags. And they added fuel to the rumor mill that the factory would be going bankrupt.

Unofficial information elicited by trying to get information about placing an order for crystal from the factory is that something might be known in a "month or two."

It was, however, stated by a manager at the factory that the pictures of products on the company web site were no longer "good" and that the printed catalog information is no longer valid. Zawiercie

The Poland Chamber, Inc., a private NGO, that has been promoting Polish crystal is following the situation closely and helping customers find alternate suppliers.
