Poland's President Not In Public View After Polish Elections

Warsaw, Poland 29 October, 2007  The Polish Press is questioning why Poland's President Lech Kaczynski has not made a public appearance to answer questions or comment on the recent elections since his brother's party went down in defeat. Speculation is that he feels insulted.

The President has not yet congratulated the Civic Platform for its election victory.

It appears that President Kaczynski feels insulted and expects an apology from election victor, and probable future Prime Minister, Donald Tusk for some perceived slight made at some time before, during or after the election.

Some feel it may be related to the comments made by Tusk immediately after the election results were announced. His statement that "decency" had returned to Poland did cause reaction from some of Kaczynski's supporters. They questioned that if decency had returned, what was Tusk saying they were?

Jaroslaw Kaczynski also reacted to Tusk talking about the Kaczynski Brothers. According to Kaczynski, there is no political entity known as the Kaczynski Brothers. The term Kaczynski Brothers is related to biology only. They are separate political entities.

Jaroslaw Kaczynski has asked that all comments made by Tusk and some others made about him and his brother over the past two years be collected. He claims that they have been offensive and Tusk is liable civilly and criminally.

Kaczynski says that he will pursue his claims in court. He does not offend people and wants to put an end to offensive statements being made by politicians.

He may have sound legal precedence in his favor as Speaker of the Sejm Dorn recently prevailed in a case defending his dog from the slanderous remarks about the dog chewing Government furniture.

The President has not said anything about any particular slight, but, according to Law And Justice Party members, and his brother, he will not congratulate Tusk for his election victory until Tusk apologizes.

There is no information about how the President will handle his emotions at the ceremony that transfers the Prime Minister's office from his brother to Donald Tusk.
