Political Party

Polish Politicians Battle Over Sexual Relationships And Poland's Government

Warsaw, Poland 23 July, 2007   Nasty words about too much sex and lack of it are making headlines in Poland as Polish politicians battle for public support as they attempt to restructure the Government.

Andrzej Lepper's political party has been plagued with a sex for work scandal that has dragged on for months. It has been a growing problem for Lepper. Poland’s Sex Scandal Grows For Lepper

The public prosecutor has been investigating accusations made against Lepper and some of his party members and has asked that the Parliamentary immunity of one of Lepper's closest associates be lifted.

Prime Minister Jaroslaw Kaczynski, in his current battle with Lepper over Poland's coalition Government, made comments about the "sex affair" in which it is said that sex was demanded in exchange for political promotion and that has lead to questions about political party financing. Lepper lashed out by saying, "The PM should not comment on sex, because he has never experienced the feeling of being in a stable relationship with a woman."

The Prime Minister, a 57 year old bachelor who lives with cats and whose mother handles his bank account, received the sympathy of even those very critical of them. It was generally assumed that Lepper went too far.

Lepper very quickly apologized to "all the people who felt offended".

But the apology was very general and noticeably did not mention the Prime Minister specifically.

There is a widespread feeling that the apology was to the public and that his blast of the Prime Minister still stands.

As for Kaczynski's side, the Government continues its pursuit of the case against Lepper and his party members.

And Lepper still has not agreed to the conditions set by Kaczynski that would lift Parliamentary immunity concerning the sex related charges. See Poland's Prime Minister Sets Conditions For Polish Coalition Government
