Gang Caught Selling Polish Woman Into White Slavery

Warsaw, Poland 26 July, 2007 Police have broken up a gang that has been selling Polish woman who were enslaved after trying to emigrate from Poland.

The gang had a very simple scheme. They advertised jobs for Polish women in Sweden.

When the women responded they were transported out of Poland to Sweden where they were raped and compromised on tape in sex acts. If they did not submit to stealing and engaging in prostitution, they were beaten.

There are ten know members of the gang. Police report that there is a supporting network of others who cooperate with them but they have not been arrested.

Because the gang is said to have many contacts in towns around Poland, women are reluctant to testify against gang members.

At least one abducted woman has already changed her testimony.
