Poland's Government Behind In Polls

With the threat of new elections in Poland once again in the headlines, polls show that the Polish Government may be headed for a disastrous loss if it goes forward with its threat.

Current poll results show the opposition party Civic Platform with 30% support, the Law and Justice Party 25% and LiS with 10%.

In spite of the polls showing that the Prime Minister's party has a good chance of going down in defeat, according to the Polish Daily, Nasz Dzennik, there are plans to go forward with new elections on 30 September, 2007 unless the new political party LiS agrees to the conditions laid down by the Prime Minister for continuing the coalition. Kaczynski seems to be ignoring the poll results that predict failure for him and that seem to be encouraging Lepper.
