Poland; Adam Malysz Wins Again And Electrifies The Polish People

Warsaw, Poland 12 March, 2007  Poland's ski jumping hero Adam Malysz has the Polish people on edge again as he moves into second place in the overall ski jumping rankings.

His win yesterday at the Lahti Ski Games, the 33rd of his career, was important in its own right and everyone cheered it. But they are more excited about him having moved up in the over all standings so that he is only 132 points away from being the leader.

He definitely did not thrill the crowds on his first jump of the day yesterday in which he placed fourth. But that was a lot better than a large number of the best jumpers did.

He described the first jump results as "strange". On the first jump many of the best jumpers did not qualify for the second round. A tailwind apparently got the best of them. But Malysz hung in there and made the cut.

On his second jump he came back in his usual form and ended up in first place for the day.
