Bike Riding Polish Governor Had No License
Warsaw, Poland 1 February, 2007 When Polish police order a weaving bicycle rider to stop he fell off the bike as he tried to leave the road and get on the sidewalk. The rider turned out to be the Governor of the Mazovia Region (See Mazovia/ Mazowsze and Poldlasie) in Central Poland. It has been downhill from there for him.
He told the Police that he had only one beer. His alcohol level was .7 and he was so drunk he was weaving back and forth on the road. And he fell off the bike when he tried to escape to the sidewalk.
He had a license to ride a bicycle but had no license to drive a car.
His license to drive a car had been taken earlier by the police because he had exceeded the driving infraction point limit.
He was taken to court and given a slap hand in the form of a suspended sentence. See Poland's Law Enforcement Farce Continues
But then he got into a high profile contest with the President Of Warsaw and is pushing to have her mandate removed because she filed her husband's financial statement 10 hours late.
And then he got the attention of the Polish weekly Wprost (In Polish) that found some interesting information that further has gotten the attention of the Minister of Interior Dorn who just so happened to be the man who appointed him to the post.
According to Wprost, the Governor applied to have a new copy of his driving license issued but did not reveal that he did not have the original copy because the police took it. The clerk who reviewed his application checked and refused to issue the second copy.
Wprost claims that during their interviews of him the Governor changed his story of the events related to his second license several times.
And the Governor's problem have become headline news in Poland's press. They question whether he was trying to get a new license by purposely submitting incomplete information.
Now Dorn wants answers.
The Governor is on a slippery slope and sliding.
