Poland’s Sex Scandal Grows For Lepper
Warsaw, Poland 19 January, 2007 – Poland’s Deputy Prime Minister Andrzej Lepper has managed to unite prosecutors against him and has had more women come forward and accuse him of demanding sex for favors.
Lepper, who heads the Polish political party Samoobrona, has been under investigation in a sex scandal that has fascinated the country and leaves the Polish Government wondering about its future.
Lepper has, among other things, been accused of being the father of a child born to a woman who claims she had to trade sex for work. Lepper said that he is “one thousand percent” sure that he is not the father and said that he would not consent to a DNA test unless the complainant paid for it.
His refusal suddenly prompted the prosecutors to unite against him and they are now demanding DNA tests of anyone who is implicated in the scandal so that they have “complete material” for the investigation. That includes Lepper.
And concurrent with the announcement by the prosecutors, some wives of members Samoobrona have come forward and accused Lepper of sexual harassment.
One wife claims that Lepper told her that if she wanted her husband to have a career in Samoobrona, she had to have sex with him.
Lepper’s other legal problems are about to come to a head. See Poland's Lepper May End Up In Jail Soon With the latest accusations against him it appears that he may have one or more new investigations opened.
The Prime Minister has not taken any overt moves to remove Lepper from his Government positions. But as Lepper’s problems accrue, he may have to take some action.
Rumors, denied by the Government, are that plans have been made to govern Poland without Lepper as part of the current three party coalition and from a minority position.
