Polish prime minister draws black line
Warsaw, Poland October 3, 2006. Perhaps the most hated organization in Poland was the Polish militia known as ZOMO. In a speech in Poland's famous Gdansk shipyard, Stocznia, Polish Prime Minister, Jaroslaw Kaczynski, drew a black line between those who support him and those who don't. He classified all those who do not support him and his policies as standing with ZOMO. See ZOMO.
According to the Polish Prime Minister, people such as Lech Walesa, Wladyslaw Bartoszewski, Tadeusz Mazowiecki, and the other thousands of people who fought ZOMO now stand with ZOMO because they do not support him.
The remarks by Kaczynski have been met by outrage in Poland.
Bronislaw Komorowski, one of the leaders of the Civic Platform declared, "Trying to draw an equation between those who disagree with Law and Justice (PiS) and the ZOMO (communist citizens militia - PNB) is odious."
Because so many young people in Poland did not experience the brutality of ZOMO, the two main evening news television programs in Poland carried pictures of ZOMO beating the Polish people.
Opinions are already circulating that Kaczynski believes that it is he and his brother who are the final solution to the elimination of anyone who was a Communist or anyone who cooperated with communists or ex -communists in any way.
It would appear that Kaczynski believes that it is he who was the true leader of the conversion from communism to whatever form of government he believes is correct.
With his black line being drawn Kaczynski has burned another bridge between him and anyone who opposes his policies.
