Polish Road fatalities dropped as unmarked police cars introduced in Poland
Classified Polnews
The introduction in Poland of unmarked police cars on the Polish roads and an increase in the number of hidden traffic cameras are contributing to a significant reduction in the number of fatalities on the Polish roads. During the first seven months of 2006 there was a 13% drop in the number of fatalities and the recent introduction of unmarked cars is projected to increase the rate of decline.

Poland
Unmarked Polish police cars have been first filming Polish drivers as they violate the rules of the Polish road. After documenting the evidence on film, the Police pull Polish drivers off the road and give them a summons to appear in court.
The unmarked Polish police cars enable the Polish police to enforce laws, such as not crossing a double solid line on a blind curve, that are routinely ignored in Poland and have not been subject to enforcement.
As the police pull drivers off the road they have been checking for prior violations. It is reported that many people have had their driver's license confiscated on the spot because with the new summons the number of points for violations would exceed the allowed limit. Such drivers must then proceed on as a passenger with someone else in the car to assuming the driver's position or have someone come pick them and their car up.
The Polish government is intent on cleaning up the Polish roads and this is just one part of a wide-ranging program to get the attention of the Polish public. See Polish police confiscate cars of drunks on the spot and lenient drunk prosecutors fired
