Zyta Gilowska comes back to her position as Poland's Financial Minister just before the deadline that was set by the Prime Minister for approval of Poland's budget.

The budget is under pressure from two Polish government coalition partners each of which wants increased spending.

The Polish government minority partner, Samoobrona, presented its demands and said that it would not vote for the budget if its demands are not met. After a meeting yesterday between Andrzej Lepper, the head of the Polish political party Samoobrona, and the Prime Minister, Jaroslaw Kaczynski, it was announced that the Prime Minister's party expects that the budget will be approved by the end of the month or there will be no coalition.

And on the same day, and just after the meeting between Kaczynski and Lepper, the other minority coalition partner, League of Polish Families, announced that it will not approve the budget unless there is increased spending for teachers' salaries. Gilowska now steps back into her old positions and has to deal with these two parties and a very tight budget about which economists have been given some stern warnings. See Will Polish government coalition battle break the Polish economy?

She will balance more than the budget. She will balance the power in the Government.
