Polish Senate amends a vetting law to require dismissal of former spies from their current jobs

Warsaw, Poland August 28, 2006. The Polish parliament passed an amended vetting law that allows those employers in designated professions to terminate the employment of people who were spies for the Polish secret service. The Polish Senate amended that Law to require that those employers terminate the employment of people who were spies for the Polish secret service

The amended law will now return to the Polish parliament where it suddenly finds opposition even within the sponsoring coalition party. It is expected that the Polish Parliament will attempt to have this provision removed.
The Polish opposition parties have stated that they intend to refer this vetting law to the Constitutional Tribunal.
