Polish government to undergo major restructuring - predicts Andrzej Lepper

Warsaw, Poland July 5, 2006 Deputy Prime Minister and leader of the Polish political party Samoobrona, Andrzej Lepper, has predicted that there will be a major restructuring of the Polish government. The Polish Prime Minister, Kazimierz Marcinkiewicz, said that he has no information about this. Roman Giertych, leader of the coalition party member League of Polish Families, would express no opinion when he was asked.

Andrzej Lepper has been long an advocate of having Jaroslaw Kaczynski, leader of the Law and Justice Party, assume the position of Prime Minister.

Rumor has it that there are two factions within the Law and Justice Party that are at odds with each other. . And the room are further has it that as a result of the Gilowska affair the rift between the two factions has grown wider.

When Gilowska was dismissed from the government the Prime Minister appointed as the new finance minister one of his insider's. This insider was not known to the President or to the Leader of the Law and Justice Party.

The Prime Minister has also set up a separate committee of experts to oversee some of the activities of the Minister of Treasury which Minister of Treasury is a member of the Law and Justice Party.

The Prime Minister has made a merry definite effort to make himself popular with the Polish people. He has maintained a very active personal public relations program and is now the most popular politician in Poland.

There are elections in the fall and the Law and Justice Party might find it difficult to replace the Prime Minister before those elections.

But at the press conference where Andrzej Lepper discussed this matter, he said that anything was possible.
