Former Polish ministers of foreign affairs sent to the Polish president, Lech Kaczynski, a letter that denounced his cancellation of the attendance of this meeting for a minor health matter. This letter created more turmoil and reactions from the ruling government coalition.

The President's staff came to his defense. The Polish President's Under Secretary of State For Foreign Affairs was a very definite in his announcement on television that even though President Kaczynski missed a meeting, the Visgard Group would continue to exist. Polish journalists do not understand why this man is concerned about the VisGard Group when the meeting was for the Weimar triangle.

Another member of the staff criticized the foreign ministers by saying that even at a toothache would make it difficult for the Polish President to properly conduct a meeting.
