Polish parliament rejects bill for new elections
Warsaw or Poland March 24, 2006 Yesterday the ruling government party Law and Justice submitted a bill to the Sejm to have the Polish parliament dissolve itself and to hold new elections in Poland prior to Pope Benedict's visit to Poland on May 25, 2006. The bill was promptly turned down by the Polish Sejm.
The only parties supporting the bill for self dissolution were the Polish party Law and Justice and the leftist Party SLD roof.
The leading opposition party, Civic Platform, stated in a press conference after the vote that not only did they say no, they said no, no, no.
Having made enemies of almost all political parties in the Polish Sejm, the ruling Law and Justice Party and now finds itself in a position of having to possibly to form a coalition with the leftist parties Samoobrona and PSL.
