This is recipe for a Polish Christmas pudding made from wheat grain and poppy seeds.
Wash and then soak overnight about 200 g of wheat berries. The next day, change the water and boil them until they are tender. Don't make mush. Just make them tender. It may take 3 hours or more. Drain and cool.
Wash the poppy seeds, add them to a pot of water, bring it to a boil, remove it from the heat and let it cool slowly for about 3 hours.
Add 100 g chopped walnuts, 100 g almonds, 50 g currants, 50 g raisins, into a bowl with 200 ml honey.
And add anything else you would like to including rum, vodka, or other fruits and flavors.
Mince the poppy seeds with a seed grinder or mortar and pestle. Add them and the wheat berries to the honey mix.
Note that some people prefer to use barley instead of wheat.
And note that no two people make Kutia the same way. If it looks like grain and poppy seed and it tastes sweet, it is probably Kutia.
