Krakow is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Poland. It is a beautiful city with a remarkable old town that attracts visitors from all over the world.

It has traditionally been a rather quite and pleasant tourist spot for people just visiting Poland and for those who come to Poland with the specific purpose of visiting Auschwitz. But since Poland has joined the European Union and low cost air carriers have made travel between Poland and the United Kingdom, a third group of tourists has been added. And that group is British and Scots who come to Krakow to have wild, drunken parties.

In spite of the unsavory displays by these people, Krakow remains as popular, if not more popular, as ever. The people of the City are noted for their pleasantness and willingness to go out of their way to help you.

This Southern location makes it easy to reach from outside Poland. Hence some of its added popularity over Warsaw.

Additionally, it was not, as was Warsaw, completely destroyed during the Second World War. So when you go there you can see some amazing historical relics and works of art.

On a more modern and materialistic level, the Krakow market square is a place of activity all year round. In the center of the square you can find a large number of small vendors that display their wares that generally consist of Polish folk art. There are very few tourists who come to Krakow who do not go to the market square.

Around the edge of the market square are excellent restaurants and shops.

A visitor to Krakow can spend the better part of a day in the Old market square visiting the various shops and enjoying the food at the different restaurants.

On the outskirts of the old market square are some side streets that to some visitor, are actually more attractive than the square itself. One can enjoy himself spending time of wandering through the nooks and crannies that you find along these streets..

Krakow is a very attractive party town for people from Europe. They visit the city and enjoy the night life and pubs. According to reports, times can get very wild.

One of the things that you may be interested in finding when you go to Krakow are the hand made Polish Christmas ornaments. Krakow is the home to some Christmas ornament manufacturers of world wide renown. And because Krakow close to Czestochowa which is the main region that manufacturers Poles Polish Christmas ornaments, you will find factory shops in Krakow that sell Polish Christmas ornaments.

But there's more to Krakow than the old town. A visit to Wawel Hill is necessary.

Much of the history of Poland lies atop the hill. One can spend the day wandering through the Wawel Castle complex looking at the old art that you will find everywhere.

Travel to Krakow from Warsaw is very easily done via an intercity train. The train is fast and very comfortable. Additionally, the trains run between Warsaw and Krakow approximately every hour. Poland Train Transportation
