About Katowice Poland
Located in the Northern part of the Silesian region of Poland, Katowice is an industrial and mining center. In fact, Katowice is the largest coal mining and steel production area in Poland.
The region was first inhabited by Silesians and still retains a strong Silesian culture even though the city has been ruled by different countries and additional cultures and people were introduced to the region.
Katowice cannot in with any sense or reality be classified as a tourist town. The buildings can be described as a prime example of communist architecture.
But it is a very heavily populated city and there is a lot of entertainment for the people of the city and the surrounding region.
The city is served by an airport and is a rail hub for the region.
