Baltic Sea Weather
About the Baltic Sea Weather in video and text with pictures of the Baltic beaches for weather in June, July And August.
To sum up what the Baltic Sea weather is like during the Summer, bring an early Spring or late fall coat. You are sure to need it. The weather is cold. And wet. And windy.
The video below shows you what it looked like in July, 2009 on the Baltic. The pictures were taken along a stetch of about 100 kilometers on the Baltic Coast with the center point being Dabki.
There were thunderstorms most every day. The beach might load with people in the morning. Then one or more thunderstorms would roll through and the beach would clear. A couple hours later, if it did not continue to rain, people would return.
The air temperature during the day was generally in the mid 60's Fahrenheit. Occasionally it reached the mid 70's. The wind made it feel much colder.
The night temperatures dropped into the low 50's and sometimes 40's. A walk into town at night required a warm coat.
The Baltic Sea weather is one thing. The water temperature another.
The water temperature was listed by the life guards as 18 degrees centigrade. It took an intrepid soul to go into that water. In fact, however, on a few days bathers, in the protected areas, were prohibted from going into the water. The wind driven waves simply made it to unsafe to swim.
And there was wind. And more wind. And wind after that. One needed a wind screen to be comfortable. Beach tents were in order. Many tourists saw the advantages and bought tents after they arrived.
There are occasional warm days when you wish there was a wind. The sun bears down hard and it gets hot on the beach. On those days the cold water saw many visitors who took a short, and sometimes shallow, dip to cool off.
