Getting To Auschwitz
Generally getting to Auschwitz for the foreign traveler entails going through Krakow. If you look at the map showing Auschwitz in relation to Krakow you can see why that is the case.

Because of the location of the Auschwitz Death Camp on the map in relation to Warsaw and due to the way the train system is organized, there is no direct link from Warsaw to Auschwitz.
If you are going to be traveling from Warsaw to Oswiecim, it is best to travel by train from the Warsaw Central Station to Krakow. Once in Krakow you can either change trains and continue to the camp on one of the Auschwitz trains or you can take a bus.
